Your username is the email address you used to setup WFTAK as well as the email address you receive WFTAK system correspondence from.
Only Federal users are automatically approved to have a WFTAK account. State, County, and local government as well as contractors are able to sign up for a WFTAK account; however, additional approval is required by WFTAK administrators.
You have a WFTAK account. However, your IRWIN Resource ID (IRWIN RID) has not been paired to your account. Reach out to your local WFTAK administrator first to fix the issue. If your local WFTAK administrator is unable to rectify the issue or you do not know who your administrator is, email dart@firenet.gov or put in a support ticket under the 'Request Support' for additional assistance.
All BLM and FWS fire vehicle locations are captured via satellite devices. The USFS AVL is for fire vehicles as well; however, the location system is cellular AT&T (LTE)-based. The remaining DOI sub-Agencies are in the process of adopting satellite-location services for their fleet. Additional partner agencies also plan to share their locations with the federal government.
Yes. You do need to change your callsign on each device, The default when you start up is ChangeME!! However, you can have the same call sign on multiple devices. We encourage users to only have WFTAK turned on one device at a time, if you are not changing your callsign between devices.
WFTAK-specific training videos are not currently available. While many of the videos are COTAK specific, the information provided in those videos directly relate to WFTAK functionality.
