WFTAK is in beta testing with a limited deployment to resources on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest (WA-OWF). The test pool includes an IHC; Rappel Module; multiple Engines; and smoke jumpers, prevention staff, and dispatchers. Additional Okanogan-Wenatchee resources that wish to participate are encouraged to do so.
Beta Testing will continue through the summer 2024 fire season through late season Rx burning and into winter/spring 2025 Rx and wildfire seasons. WFTAK rollout nationwide for all Federal resources is slated to begin summer of 2025. Select units will be approached to participate in pre-rollout beta testing.
Beta testers will be asked to evaluate WFTAK user onboarding; operational server structure (channels, automation, backend administration, etc.); necessary feeds; and additional utility beyond the identified use-cases. The beta testers will have the opportunity to offer feedback for needed changes before full the National deployment.
A MS Forms survey is available for beta test personnel to submit feedback. The form and QR code is also available in the Beta Evaluation menu on the homepage. A Survey 123 form is available in the Support Menu on the homepage to report Issues/Bugs with WFTAK.
WFTAK will be available for all Federal Agencies beginning summer of 2025. The actual rollout date is still to-be-determined. State, county, and local Government resources as well as contractors will be onboarded following initial Federal onboarding.
CoE in collaboration with FAM (USFS) has begun creating new training materials for the WFTAK project, including training videos for the Android and iOS apps. However, existing training materials highlight COTAK, which is the State of Colorado's (CoE) TAK server. The content in the link overlaps with USFS WFTAK efforts. WFTAK-specific training is currently in development.
Check back frequently as new videos/documents will be posted as soon as they are created.
Training content will be available without a login.
